Bride Wars

“The film Bride Wars (2009) received mixed reviews, with critics questioning the logic behind two best friends sabotaging each other's weddings over a scheduling conflict. While some plot points are unrealistic, the structured storyline and relatable emotional moments keep the film enjoyable. The conflict highlights how sensitive and ego-driven wedding planning can become. The narration choice—delivered by a character who shouldn't logically know the protagonists' full history—raises believability issues. Additionally, the film never clearly explains why both characters dream of marrying in June, which weakens the emotional stakes. Despite this, the central theme of friendship tested by major life events remains strong. Compared to its 2015 Chinese remake, the original Bride Wars offers more depth, emotional tension, and elegant storytelling. While the remake leans heavily on comedy, the original blends drama and sentimentality, offering a stronger resolution. The film reminds viewers that weddings should focus on meaningful relationships, not just perfect ceremonies. Read the full review here: (Indonesian version : alunauwie.com)”
